Dr Follett, is a native of Wisconsin but spent her early years in Texas and California. She returned to Wisconsin in time to finish high school at Pius XI and attend Marquette University.
"For me becoming a veterinarian wasn't so much a carefully planned career choice, as it was the fulfillment of a destiny," Dr. Follett says. "I didn't so much as choose Veterinary Medicine, as it chose me and what a perfect fit. "
Dr Follett, graduated with honors from veterinary school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1991. She was a member of Phi-Zeta , the National Veterinary Honor Society. She also co-authored several research papers published in noted science publications such as the Journal of Immunology, Infection and Immunity and Microbial Pathogenesis.
Dr Follett ,began her veterinary career in Janesville, WI but relocated to the Milwaukee area in 1995, for family reasons. After practicing at several area veterinary hospitals , in 2007, she co-founded Brook-Falls Veterinary Hospital &Exotic Care, Inc with Dr Jennifer Bloss.
Dr Follett's practice is limited to dogs, cats and small mammals. She has a strong interest in Ophthalmology (eyes), Internal Medicine and Laboratory Science. She "thrives on" the challenges found in working up and managing complex cases. She is enjoys witnessing and encouraging the strong bonds that grow between owners and their pets, as well as assisting her clients in maintaining the health of their pets through all the stages of life. Prefessionally, Dr Follett, has served on the board of several Medical Association Boards. She was President of the Milwaukee Veterinary Medical Association in 1998, Secretary /Treasurer of the Rock Valley Veterinary Medical Association 1993-1995 and a member of the Technician Advisory Committee of the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association 1993-1994.
When not working, Dr Follett enjoys writing, cooking and puttering in the garden. She shares her home with her parents and 4 cats -- the mighty "Miss Midge" and 3 loveable brother cats – "Alvin," "Simon" and "Theodore."
